Head Coach needed for 2021 season

Berkeley Rugby Football Club (BRFC) are currently seeking a Head Coach for the 2021 season. BRFC were established in 2004 and currently competes in Division 3 of the Northern California Rugby Football Union (NCRFU).

The head coach's primary responsibilities are to develop training programs, match selection, develop season goals and manage volunteer support coaching staff.  We have adopted a baseline playing style which the next head coach will hopefully continue to develop during his/her tenure. We have a well-functioning support system to handle various team administration tasks (e.g., recruitment, fundraising and financials, scheduling, social media, USA Rugby and NCRFU compliance) which allows the head coach to focus on rugby.
We are looking for the following key skills and responsibilities:

  • ability to effectively communicate with and motivate players and coaches

  • develop dynamic training sessions

  • USA rugby coaching certified required and previous coaching experience preferred

  • help serve as BRFC team leader and interact with NCRFU and USA Rugby

Currently, BRFC  has grown to include both a B side and an Old Boys side.  Our performance goals are to continue to be competitive in our division and, ideally, achieve a playoff spot and win the division.  We are an all-volunteer organization with active members ranging from 18-55 years old and hailing from a diverse background and rugby experiences.

BRFC is an inclusive organization which prides itself on its members' diversity, whose mission is to develop its athletes in order to contribute both on and off the field. Trainings are held on Mondays and Thursdays in Berkeley or Alameda.
